Cookie policy

The short version

EdTechCore stores only what the service needs to work, with one exception that is yours to choose: while the public site measures its own advertising, Google's advertising and statistics cookies, set only if you allow them in the cookie choice. Without your Allow, nothing for advertising or statistics is stored or sent. The panels you sign in to carry no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking, and nothing is sold or shared so that someone else can market to you. The cookie notice itself shows whether the site's measurement is on: while it is off, the notice only informs; while it is on, it asks first.

What this page covers

Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to keep. Websites also use local storage and session storage: a different mechanism, the same idea - data held on your device. This page covers all three, and uses "cookies" as the short name for them.

The public site

Without JavaScript, this site stores nothing on your device. With it, it keeps a few small entries in your browser's local storage, and only after you act: the language you pick in the language switcher, so the site opens in that language next time, and either a note that you dismissed the cookie notice or, while the site's measurement is on, your answer to its question, which is asked again after 12 months, and, once you send a question in the site's chat, the key that opens that conversation again, until you start a new one. None of them is sent anywhere, except the chat's key, which goes to this site's server with each message so it can find the conversation; a request sent after an Allow only says which version of the question was allowed. Until you allow Google's tags, there are no cookies here, no analytics scripts and no fonts loaded from anyone else. If you allow them, more is kept: our cookie etc_ad, holding the ad and campaign you arrived from and the identifiers of up to two earlier ad clicks, for 90 days, so a request sent later still says which ad brought you, an account created from it can be reported to Google Ads (the privacy notice says what is sent), and a refusal can take back a request sent under an earlier click; Google Ads' cookies (_gcl_au, _gcl_aw, _gcl_gb) and its local-storage entry _gcl_ls, for 90 days; and Google Analytics' cookies (_ga, _ga_<ID>), for 13 months. All of them are set on edtechcore.com alone and never reach the panels. The request form sends the name and email address you type into it, whether you teach on your own or run a school, the language of the page you sent it from, the partner's code if a partner's link brought you here, and, only if you allowed Google's tags, the ad and campaign you arrived from.

The panels you sign in to

Once you sign in, the application keeps three kinds of thing:

• A sign-in cookie named refresh_token. It keeps you signed in, cannot be read by JavaScript, is sent only to the sign-in addresses, and expires 30 days after it is issued. Signing out deletes it.
• Your settings. The light or dark theme, the colour of the sidebar and the voice that reads words to you are saved to your account, so they follow you to another device; the theme is also kept in this browser, so a page opens in it straight away. Other settings stay in this browser and are never sent to the server, such as whether the sidebar is collapsed and which board you opened last.
• Short-lived notes about the screen you are on, such as which lesson you had open. They are gone when you close the tab.

Signing out clears all of it.

What is never here

No advertising or marketing cookies in the panels, and none on the public site unless you allow Google's tags. No profiling of anyone who signs in, no ad networks in the panels, and no data sold or handed to anyone for their own marketing. The security policy the panels are served with blocks outside scripts entirely, so a tracker cannot be added there by accident; the public site's admits Google's tag and nothing else, and loads it only after your Allow.

Where another company is involved

A few parts of the product hand you to another company. When that happens, that company sees your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own policy:

• Cloudflare protects and delivers the panels you sign in to, and may set a security cookie of its own there to tell people apart from bots. The public site does not pass through Cloudflare.
• YouTube, a Google service, plays any lesson video a teacher has embedded. The product asks for the privacy-enhanced player, which sets no cookies until you press play.
• Google runs its advertising and statistics tags on the public site while EdTechCore has that measurement switched on, and only if you allow them. It then sees your IP address and the pages you open, sets the cookies listed above, and may set its own cookies on its own domains (such as google.com and doubleclick.net) under its own policy. If you allowed them and later create an account from the request, we also tell Google Ads ourselves which ad click led to it; the privacy notice says what is sent and for how long.
• A payment provider takes over on its own page when you pay. Card details are entered there and never reach us.
• The push service belonging to your browser delivers notifications, if you have turned them on.

What you can do

Your browser can delete or block cookies and clear local storage for any site, including this one. Blocking the sign-in cookie means you cannot stay signed in: the product will ask you to sign in again on every page. While the public site's measurement is on, Cookie settings at the bottom of every page of the site brings its question back: a refusal stops the tag at once and deletes our cookies and Google's on this site, along with the ad click kept with a request sent from this browser, and Google's cookies on its own domains are managed in Google's ad settings (myadcenter.google.com). While it is off, the notice only informs; to see it again, clear this site's data in your browser. We count how many times a day Allow and Decline are pressed on the site: two numbers a day, with nothing about who pressed them and no cookie.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to receive a copy. Write to admin@edtechcore.com. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Changes to this page

When what the product stores changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. Nothing new is added to your device quietly.

This page describes what this service stores on your device. It is a statement of practice, not legal advice, and it takes away no right the law gives you. The companies named above run their own services under their own terms, and what they do on their own platforms is outside our control.
